If you do not see the danger inherent in extending the regression line beyond your observations, try working out the rate of development at 0 degrees and 100 degrees Celsius. Then ask yourselves how many organisms can be expected to achieve such results. This sort of misuse is particularly common among users of polynomial regressions, and models fitted to timeseries data.
