Just a note

  • The layout of the 2 2 table required by R is non-standard. R requires the table in this format:
    Explanatory
    variable ⇓
    Response variable ⇓
    +
    38434
    +37435

Alternatively input the table in the standard format and use rev = c("both") to reverse both rows and columns.

  • tabrisk = matrix(c(384,374,34,35),nc=2) enters the table column by column into the variable 'tabrisk'.
  • nc = 2 instructs R that there are two columns.
  • method = "wald" specifies the unconditional maximum likelihood estimate of the risk ratio and the normal approximation (Wald) confidence interval.
  • method = "boot" specifies the unconditional maximum likelihood estimate of the risk ratio and the bootstrap confidence interval.
